Radio telemetry is an important tool for conservation of a species. Telemetry allows us to follow individual animals to determine things such as migration routes and seasonal habitat use -- knowledge that identifies areas of critical habitat that can be used by land managers. Radio telemetry requires that a transmitter be placed on or in an animal. This video shows the removal of a transmitter that was inserted into a Timber Rattlesnake during one of our studies.
