ALAPARC extends registration deadline!

Great news! The Alabama Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (ALAPARC) are extending the registration and abstract submission deadline to October 29th for the 2nd annual ALAPARC meeting, Nov. 5-7, 2011, at the Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center in Andalusia, Alabama. Private rooms and time slots for presentations are filling up, so register soon to ensure a space for either!

The meeting kicks off Friday afternoon with a panel discussion on how a federal listing of the Gopher Tortoise might affect the conservation of the species in Alabama.  Later that day will be an informal roundtable discussion consisting of individuals working on the Red Hills Salamander.  On Saturday there are talks describing amphibian and reptile conservation and research in the state, and Saturday night ALAPARC will be honoring an Alabama herpetology pioneer, Dr. Bob Mount. There will also be a workshop offered on the benefits of, and proper methodology associated with, collecting natural history information so that anybody can add to our knowledge of amphibians and reptiles.
