The Georgia College & State University (GCSU) “Front Page” recently profiled Orianne Society Science Director and GCSU alumnus, Dr. Houston Chandler (’12). The article highlights Houston’s journey from growing up in Statesboro with a love for reptiles and amphibians, to his current leadership of Orianne’s Science Initiative research and conservation programs across the Southeast.
Since joining The Orianne Society, Houston has overseen projects focused on imperiled species such as Eastern Indigo Snakes, Spotted Turtles, Eastern Diamond-backed Rattlesnakes, and Suwannee Alligator Snapping Turtles. He credits his time at GCSU, where he double majored in biology and environmental science, with laying the foundation for his career in herpetological research and conservation.
