“The Orianne Society is saddened to announce the loss of Bern Tryon, one of the greatest conservationists of North America’s most Endangered Turtle.”

A graduate of Gardner-Webb University, Bern went on to become the Director of Herpetology at the Knoxville Zoo and was a well-known authority on and champion for the Critically Endangered Bog Turtle.  Bern’s 25 year dedication to the conservation of reptiles and amphibians will not be forgotten.
