PYNH6

We have partnered with Black River Outdoors to bring you our first Places You’ve Never Herped (PYNH) event of the year! PYNH 6 will be in the PeeDee River Basin of South Carolina on June 6-7, 2015. If you enjoy kayaking and wading through swamps to see how many herps you can find, this is the trip for you!

PYNH 6 will focus on herpetofaunal surveys of swamps, marshes and blackwater streams. Members may expect to observe many species of frogs, toads, sirens, amphiumas, aquatic turtles, and aquatic snakes, including the possibility of finding the rare Rainbow Snake. Some of the PYNH field herping will be by foot and wading, including after-dark herping of swamp habitats. Members planning to attend this trip need to feel comfortable on the water in kayaks as much of the trip will incorporate kayaking. (Kayaks, life vests and kayak training will be provided on-site.)

Because of the equipment needed for this excursion, we are limiting registration to just 32 Orianne members, and registration is open on a first-come, first-served basis, so register today to secure your spot!

PYNH registration is only open to members. Click here to become a member, renew your membership or give the gift of membership.

Participants are strongly encouraged to secure hotel or campground accommodations after registering. The Hampton Inn–Litchfield and Baymont Inn–Georgetown are near the PYNH locale, and Huntington Beach State Park has primitive camping accommodations that would be convenient.

More details will be emailed to attendees closer to the event.

Registration is now full.
