Places You’ve Never Herped 8 is Coming!

We are pleased to announce our next Places You’ve Never Herped event which will take place June 4-5, 2016, at the Orianne Indigo Snake Preserve (OISP) in Telfair County, Georgia. Event participants will get the chance to carry out comprehensive inventories of the OISP and a nearby state Wildlife Management Area. Members will be engage in visual encounter surveys for snakes during the day and night, conduct aural surveys for frogs at night, check drift fences, and trap for turtles in swamps, river sloughs and other wetlands in the field alongside our staff.

We will open registration on this page on Friday, April 8 at 12:00pm EST for members to join our first PYNH citizen science event of the year. We are looking forward to having members to the OISP outside of Indigo Days this year!

Remember, Places You’ve Never Herped is only open to current members, and space is limited to 40 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration fills up very quickly, so be sure your membership is current before registration opens. If you are unsure of your membership status, please email anewsom@oriannesociety.org to see.

Participants will be responsible for lodging expenses and travel arrangements. More details about the event will be sent to registrants in the near future via e-mail—please ensure that a valid e-mail address is used during registration.

Participants under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the trip.
