Photo of the Month: November

Blue-spotted Salamander (Ambystoma laterale) seen moving across snow in northeastern Vermont.

With winter seemingly in full force in the Great Northern Forests it is likely to be at least four months before reptiles and amphibians are out again in large numbers in the Great Northern Forests. For many, a Blue-spotted Salamander (Ambystoma laterale) such as this one will be the first species they see next spring, and it is not unusual to see them moving across snow to get to their breeding wetlands.
